Day 11 — Sent with Power
Writer: Phil Thomson // Divergent Church Port Macquarie
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses.” Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Theme: Sent with power.
Prayer Focus: God, help me live sent, not self-centred.
Reflection:
The Spirit doesn’t come just to fill us up, he comes to send us out.
Everywhere we look in Scripture, power never exists on its own. It’s always linked to a purpose. The Spirit is given to us not to make the Christian bigger alone, but to send the witness of Jesus further into lives, into cities, into the places He already loves.
Calling is usually not something spectacular that will happen to you in some miraculous way. It is exhibited day by day in simple acts of obedience. God has already prepared good works for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10), not someday in the future.
Today.
The Spirit enables what God has already empowered.
Witness therefore doesn’t have to do with how much you say or how confident you feel. It has everything to do with showing up. Being faithful in the everyday places, homes, offices, coffee shops, hallways, over dinners and through interruptions. He empowers words spoken in love, but He is also at work in lives that bear the fruit of integrity, of peace, and quiet courage.
You are not on standby for your call to come.
You are already on sent.
Stop asking God today, “What great things should I do for You?”
Ask instead, “Where are You at work and how do You want me to walk in the good things You’ve already prepared?”
Prayer:
Come Holy Spirit. Come renew Your power in me. Not for my life, but for Your purposes. Give me eyes to see those You have sent me to love. Courage when I need to speak. And faithfulness to love day by day. Father, let my life make Jesus known wherever I am sent. Amen.
Personal Reflection
1. Where has God already placed me to be a witness, not where I want to be?
2. How can I ask for and depend on the power of the Holy Spirit in ordinary and everyday circumstances?
3. What would be different if I believed with everything in me that I am already on sent into my present context?
