DIVERGENT CHURCH TUGGERANONG WODEN
Checking out a Church can be pretty daunting experience.
At DIVERGENT CHURCH TUGGERANONG (usually called South) we want people to feel at home from the moment they arrive.
At present, we meet together with our CITY CHURCH as we prepare to launch a Sunday presence in the South of Canberra. We already have a Tuggeranong and Woden presence, so we encourage you to come on a Sunday and meet with our community.
Where ever you are in life, we know that God has called us out to walk with him and in community. That is why at Divergent Church Belconnen we are passionate about spurring one another on to everything God has for us.
As we are part of the wider Divergent Church Canberra family we meet with all the gatherings once every six weeks.
We promote these events, however the key days for 2025 are:

At Divergent Church Tuggeranong is not about looking at the back of peoples heads. To help facilitate deeper commuynity, we have small but important habits to step by step build community. For example, in our Sunday gatherings we have a brief 'half time break', a chance to grab and coffee, connect, pray and be family.
Also vitally important to us are our LIFE COMMUNITIES, you can get connected into a LifeCom at our sunday gatherings.
Team Leadership
We have great Regional Leaders in Kade & Rachel Klemke.
As a Church, we also wholeheartedly operate with a wider Leadership team that serves our gatherings and church as a whole. In each gathering is a specific leadership team that care for and lead that gathering.
KIDS
Children and Youth are not the Church of the future, they are the Church. Our heart is to see them thrive in their faith
Our Sunday kids and youth communities cover 3 - 17 years, with additional activities for Youth outside of the Sunday.

At Divergent Church Tuggeranong, divergent means choosing a different path. It's about standing out from what the world values. Our name is more than just a tag; it attempts to both reflect and create a culture and conviction about Jesus. He has called his followers to live by the rules of a different kingdom, His Kingdom (Matt 6:33, Matt 16:24 - 26)
Jesus' Kingdom: Not of This World
Jesus made it clear when he stood before Pilate:
"My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” – John 18:36 (NIV)
Jesus' kingdom isn't like that of this world.
In His kingdom:
* Faith beats fear
* Life wins over death
* Truth stands tall against lies
* Love overcomes hate
His kingdom isn't just a bit different, it's totally against the way the world works. It's truly divergent.
Canberra: Opportunities and Challenges in Every Valley
Whether you're in Woden, Molonglo Valley, Tuggeranong, or anywhere else in between, you know Canberra's full of all sorts of people. From busy workers and uni students to young families and those enjoying retirement, Canberra reflects a broad diversity. But with that comes pressure to fit in – to chase what the world says is success, status, and comfort.
But the Bible calls us to push back against that.
The Apostle Paul writes:
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2 (NIV)
We take that seriously. We're not just a Sunday thing. We're a bunch of people shaped by Jesus' life and teachings, trying to live differently right here in Canberra.

We don't hide away from the community, we want to make it better. Whether it's through schools, streets, workplaces, or just hanging out, we want to show the hope of Christ in everyday life. We are passionate about the wider network of churches in Canberra, not to compete, but to complement the work of God already happening across the region.
We reckon we're here for a reason, not to copy what everyone else is doing, but to shine the light of Jesus.
