Checking out a Church can be pretty daunting experience.
At DIVERGENT CHURCH BELCONNEN GUNGAHLIN (usually called North) we want people to feel at home from the moment they arrive.
Where ever you are in life, we know that God has called us out to walk with him and in community. That is why at Divergent Church Belconnen we are passionate about spurring one another on to everything God has for us.
As we are part of the wider Divergent Church Canberra family we meet with all the gatherings once every six weeks.
We promote these events, however the key days for 2025 are:

At Divergent Church Belconnen we have a brief 'half time break', a chance to grab and coffee, connect, pray and be family.
Also vitally important to us are our LIFE COMMUNITIES which you can sign up to at Church. Wherever people love to be is where we love to meet - cafés, work, uni, homes. If you are interested give us a buzz or ask at Church.
Team Leadership
We have great Regional Leaders in Kade & Rachel Klemke and Belconnen leaders, Ciaran and Sammy Keating.
As a Church, we also wholeheartedly operate with a wider Leadership team that serves our gatherings and church as a whole. In each gathering is a specific leadership team that care for and lead that gathering.
KIDS
Children and Youth are not the Church of the future, they are the Church. Our heart is to see them thrive in their faith
Our Sunday kids and youth communities cover 3 - 17 years, with additional activities for Youth outside of the Sunday.

Why are we different? Because Jesus said,
"my kingdom is not of this world" (jOhn 18:6)
Why “Divergent”?
At Divergent Church Belconnen, we believe being divergent means choosing a different path—one that stands apart from the dominant values of our culture. Our name reflects a deep conviction: that Jesus invites His followers to live under the influence of a different kingdom—His Kingdom.
Jesus’ Kingdom Is Different
When Jesus stood before Pilate, He made a bold declaration about His rule and reign:
“My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” – John 18:36 (NIV)
Jesus’ kingdom is unlike anything this world offers. In His kingdom:

Faith overcomes fear

Life triumphs over death

Truth stands against falsehood

Love replaces hate
This kingdom is not just slightly different—it is fundamentally opposed to the systems and values of this world. It is truly divergent.
Belconnen: A Place of Opportunity and Challenge
Belconnen is a vibrant and diverse region filled with people from all walks of life. From busy professionals and university students to young families and retirees, it reflects the broad diversity of Canberra itself. But with this diversity comes pressure—pressure to conform to the world’s definitions of success, status, and comfort.
Yet the Scriptures call us to resist those pressures. The Apostle Paul writes:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2 (NIV)
