At Divergent Church, we are a family of Canberra churches passionate about living out the teachings of Jesus in everyday life. Our communities across Canberra, including Belconnen, City, Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan.
Divergent Church Canberra and Divergent Church Queanbyean are christian churches passionate about being a local expression of Jesus' kingdom. It is a different kingdom, not one of this world or its practices and principles. Jesus' kingdom is divergent, it is a kingdom where hate is overcome by love, where truth stands out from falsehood, where faith replaces fear. It is not a kingdom that can be experienced simply within the confines of a Sunday event but something seen in the people of God expressing the character of God in to every day life.
At Divergent Church Canberra we believe Church is not simply an event you attend but a community of people living out the life of Christ, for his cause, acting as catalysts to bless a world that does not know Jesus.
Whether you're single, a couple, have kids or are new to Canberra/Australia. Whether you've 'done the church thing' or you have no idea what following Jesus is about, Divergent Churches in Canberra are a great community to explore the amazing message of Jesus.
When and where do Divergent Canberra Churches meet?
Divergent Church has four different local Canberra churches in Canberra (and nearly in Queanbeyan) on Sundays as well as Life Communities across the region.

Every six weeks Divergent Church Canberra, Divergent Church Queanbeyan gather as ONE.

Why “Divergent”?
Divergent Church Canberra serves as a home for those who choose to follow Jesus together on his path, a different one from the world.
Divergent Church Canberra stands on the belief that following Jesus means choosing an alternative path which stands apart from the dominant patterns of modern culture. Our name stands as a reflection of kingdom culture and purpose. Divergent Church in Canberra stands with the many Canberra churches that invite people to embrace a way of life and purpose aligned with Jesus' kingdom.
Jesus’ Kingdom Is Radically Different
Jesus made a profound statement while standing before Pilate who was accusing Him and sentencing Him to crucifixion:
“My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” John 18:36 (NIV)
In His kingdom:

This kingdom stands in fundamental opposition to the dominant culture—it’s not just different, it’s truly divergent.

Canberra: Beautiful, Diverse, and in Need of Hope
Canberra is a unique and vibrant city. Canberra churches provide services to a wide-ranging congregation that includes public servants from Civic, creatives from Braddon, university students in Acton, families settled in Tuggeranong, and retirees living in Gungahlin.
Like many cities, Canberra faces intense societal pressure. The drive to achieve success forces people to measure their worth through actions and possessions. Scripture offers us a countercultural vision of transformation:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)
At Divergent Church Canberra, we resist cultural conformity and instead embrace the transformation Jesus offers. We are committed to building a community shaped by the gospel, not the grind.
For this reason we have always had a heart for planting new communities in different regions of Canberra and beyond, including Divergent Church Belconnen and Gungahlin, Divergent Church Canberra City and Divergent Church Tuggeraong. and Divergent Church in Port Macquarie

Our mission is both simple and significant:
To develop "ALL IN disciples devoted to His Kingdom".

While we are one of many churches in Canberra, our heart is not to blend in, but to bring lasting change to individuals, families, and neighbourhoods by reflecting the radical love and hope of Jesus.
